Title: Sports Nutrition Update: Addressing the confusion. The goal of this session is to help RDs effectively answer the questions their sports-active clients ask about how to fuel for high energy and top performance. Sports nutritionist Nancy Clark MS RD CSSD will address the confusion regarding fueling for sports and exercise. Highlights: • Carbohydrates: Good or health-erosive? • Protein: Are supplements needed to build muscle? • Recovery: What and when to eat? • Weight management: If I add on exercise, will I lose weight? • Fad diets: What about keto- and intermittent fasting? You will leave this session with practical how-to fueling strategies that will guide your sports- active clients towards enjoyable and effective workouts. Objectives: At the end of this session, the RD will be able to: 1. Explain the science of fueling for energetic and effective workouts. 2. Discuss the optimal balance of carbohydrates, protein, and dietary fat for novice and experienced exercisers. 3. Create a sports nutrition program for clients who want to improve their athletic performance.

Venue: Charles River Medical Associates, 246 Maple Street, Marlboro, MA. Cost: Registration and fee: o RD (ADN/ MDA member): $20 o RD (ADN/MDA non-member): $25 o Student (ADN/MDA member): $ 15 o Student (ADN/MDA non-member): $20 Registration deadline: September 25th. Due to seating capacity of the venue, registration will be limited to 35 participants, hence we urge you to register early through the MAND website right here. Proposed CEUs: 1.5 CEUs
