Medications: What RDs Need to Know (Online-ZOOM event)



Participants will be able to:



1. Explain the mechanisms of action for GLP-1 medications, and the indications/contraindications.



2. Evaluate the ethics and controversy surrounding this class of medications.



3. Develop an effective nutrition care plan for patients using GLP -1 agonists medications.



Presenter: Lauren Newman is a Registered Dietitian, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (CDCES), and Certified Eating Disorders (CEDS) passionate about helping individuals with diabetes make peace with food and their bodies. She owns and operates her own private practice specialized in diabetes care. Lauren uses her training and experience to help individuals with diabetes heal from disordered eating patterns and support other healthcare providers in deepening their understanding of the relationship between diabetes and eating disorders.
