Dairy Farm Tour and CEU Opportunity at Great Brook Farm (Carlisle, MA) / In-person Education Event, 1.5 CEU

Join the Duffy family and New England Dairy for a walking tour of Great Brook Farm, a 1,000-acre state park where the Duffy’s have been milking cows since 1987.
The milk from their 140-cow dairy goes to West Springfield, MA where it is turned into pasteurized milk and Cabot Creamery products.
Participants will learn firsthand how dairy farmers care for their cows, the environment, and their communities by producing a safe, nutritious and local product.
Participants will walk away with a greater understanding of: 1. Cow care including cow nutrition, veterinary care, cow comfort, and milking technology. 2. How New England dairy farmers are contributing to a sustainable food system, including reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and protection of soil and water. 3. Milk safety including the use of antibiotics, hormones, and milk testing protocols.
Ice cream and refreshments will be provided by New England Dairy.
