The Central Mass Dietetic Association is excited to present "The Gut-Brain Connection", by Erin Kenney, MS, RD, HCP. Date, time for this virtual event: Wed, June 9th, 2021: 6:30-8:00 pm CEUs: 1.5 Title: The Gut-Brain Connection Speaker: Erin Kenney, MS, RD, HCP, is a Registered Dietitian, Holistic Cannabis Practitioner, and CEO of Nutrition Rewired, a Boston-based company providing nutrition counseling and meal planning to help individuals achieve optimal physical and mental health and wellbeing. She specializes in gastrointestinal issues, eating disorders, and mental health and addiction. Her passion stems from her own personal journey with gastrointestinal disorders and getting to the root cause through an integrated nutrition approach.



Description: This session will provide an overview of how the gut and brain are inextricably linked and the important role of nutrition in achieving optimal mental and physical wellbeing. It will include evidence-based tips and a review of nutrients of concern related to the gut-brain connection. Erin will also share her experience using CBD as a tool to improve gastrointestinal and mental health symptoms in her private practice. Learning Objectives • Understand the link between the gut and brain • Identify nutrients of concern related to mental health • Learn the benefits and limitations of probiotics and CBD •

For 2024, MDEF will be giving out two MDEF scholarships and one MDEF Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) scholarship to deserving nutrition students, each in the amount of $1500. Please pass along to any nutrition students or interns who may be eligible to apply!
