Merrimack College Virtual Information Session: Pathways to Meeting the Master's Requirement for the CDR Exam
- Event
- Wednesday, February 22, 2023
If you're considering becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN), we invite you to join us online Wednesday, February 22 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (Eastern) for an information session on Pathways to Meeting the Master's Requirement for the CDR Exam.
During this event, you will hear from Elizabeth Natale, MS, RD, LDN, Merrimack’s Graduate Program Director for the M.S. in Nutrition and Human Performance. She will explain the different types of master’s programs that will help qualify you for the CRD exam, as well as how Merrimack's graduate programs can prepare you for a successful career in the growing job market for dieticians and nutritionists.
Any questions you may have about choosing the best pathway to become a registered nutritionist will be answered during this event!
You may already know that the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) will require a minimum of a master’s degree to be eligible to take the credentialing exam to become an RDN, starting in January 2024. But, did you know that there are two distinct ways to earn your master's while also completing the supervised practice hours required by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) - and that Merrimack College offers programs for both paths?
Option 1: Merrimack’s MS in Nutrition and Human Performance is a one-step program that meets the requirements to sit for the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) exam – without requiring a separate Dietetic Internship. You’ll complete 1,000 hours of supervised experiential learning in sports/human performance, clinical, community, foodservice and research rotations, while also completing graduate coursework. The first Future Education Model graduate program in Massachusetts, it offers a truly streamlined pathway to becoming an RDN.
Option 2: If you are pursuing a standalone Dietetic Internship to fulfill your practice hours, you can meet CDR's master's degree requirement by choosing from three health sciences graduate programs at Merrimack - in Community Health Education; Exercise and Sport Science; or Health and Wellness Management.
Available online or on-campus, these master of science programs can be completed in just nine months, before, during or following your Dietetic Internship. They provide a strong health science foundation combined with real-world population health and leadership skills. Join us for the virtual information session on Wednesday, February 22 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. (Eastern) to learn more.
