Nutrition professionals must be well informed on trends in the nutrition industry. With so much disinformation circulating, it is not reasonable to expect our patients to come in the door open to our evidence-based ideas. Instead, they often consult us with hopes that we can help them stick to the latest fad diet being promoted.

In this talk, we’ll learn how to be armed with evidence when presented with faulty interpretations of science.

Speaker Bio: Kristen Carli, MS, RD is the owner of Camelback Nutrition & Wellness, a private nutrition practice and consulting firm. Having a passion for nutrition communication, she writes for many food and nutrition outlets as well as regularly develops recipes for food brands and media companies. Her nutrition expertise has been featured in InStyle, Bustle, Livestrong, The List, MyFitnessPal and many others.

Additionally, Kristen is often featured via local TV segments sharing nutrition tips and tricks.

Learning Objectives: 1. Understand the various current fad diets. 2. Identify the health benefits and drawbacks of these diets. 3. Discuss the benefits of well-researched eating patterns. 4. Review how to present these healthier alternatives to patients.

Performance Indicators: 8.3.6 Keeps abreast of current nutrition and dietetics knowledge and trends.
