Position Description:

JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Nutritional Sciences, a part of the College of Agriculture, Health and Natural Resources, at the University of Connecticut, seeks applicants for a part-time (50%) Online Programs Coordinator. The Online Programs Coordinator will provide administrative and programmatic support to the Department of Nutritional Science’s expanding online programs. The Online Programs Coordinator will report to the Director of Online Programs and will be based out of the Storrs Campus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Serves as a resource to current and prospective students, staff, faculty and the public regarding Nutritional Sciences online programing.

2. Coordinates program logistics for students, faculty, and staff by arranging and securing facilities, virtual and in-person logistics, schedules, catering arrangements, post event surveys, and related items.

3. Plans and executes several aspects of program events and student outreach, recruitment, onboarding, and advising activities.

4. Handles routine and specialized inquiries via telephone, email, or in-person and directs them to the appropriate contact as appropriate.

5. Assists students with academic advising, record changes, processes necessary academic forms, and maintains accurate academic records.

6. Explains program policies, procedures, and requirements.

7. Assembles data and prepares statistical, summary, and/or historical reports as needed.

8. Develops, maintains, and updates a collection of resource materials, program information, and promotional materials for student recruitment, advising, career/professional development, and general Nutritional Sciences Department information; assists in updating materials as needed.

9. Updates website, student resources and communications, and outgoing recruitment materials as needed.

10. Prepares, organizes, and proofs documents for various program and administrative meetings.

11. Reviews, copies, edits, and/or develops research, informational, and promotional materials for the program.

12.Assists in the preparation and tracking of program budgets, and monitors expenditures for events and program activities, as assigned.

13. Assists other departmental staff with administrative tasks.

14. Performs related work as required.


POSITION EXPECTATIONS

Must be willing to work some weekend or evening hours


APPOINTMENT TERMS

This position is 20 hours a week, and the schedule will be flexible and will be determined prior to hire between supervisor and successful candidate. The appointment term will be for six months with the possibility of extension. Once hired, specific days and times worked will be discussed with the Nutritional Sciences Department Head and Online Programs Director. The salary starts at $31.00 per hour.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

Employment of the successful candidate is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. Master’s Degree in Nutrition or a related field with two to three years of clinical experience.

2. RDN or equivalent credential.

3. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, complemented by strong customer service skills.

4. Excellent organizational skills, with attention to detail.

5. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with individuals of diverse cultural, social, and educational backgrounds.

6. Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)

7. Demonstrated experience managing schedules, calendaring, and event planning.

8. Proven ability to work independently and in a team setting while regularly exercising judgment regarding administrative details and procedures.

Desired Qualifications:

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. Experience in academic and outreach programs in a university or collegiate setting.

2. Experience with Blackboard or other instructional programs.

3. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with communication technologies, including experience with social media platforms and website maintenance.
