MAND IDEA Presents its Annual Summer CEU Series with this year's theme being "Food as Medicine Through a Multicultural Lens."
Redefining Food is Medicine through Food Access, Justice, and Sovereignty | Olivia Thomas, MS, PhDc, RDN & Rebecca Valdez, RD | Thursday July 18 at 7:00pm EST for 1.25 CEUs.
Economic, political, and social structures heavily impact dietary quality, disproportionately limiting access to nutritious food in marginalized communities, resulting in adverse health outcomes. The national Food is Medicine (FIM) movement seeks to mitigate diet-related disparities by providing services such as medically tailored meals, produce, nutrition education, and culinary medicine.
However, barriers persist in effectively addressing individual and community needs. This webinar will delve into four challenges facing the FIM movement, accompanied by two illustrative program examples to address them and shift the narrative from food access to the broader endeavor of fostering food justice and sovereignty.
Speakers: Olivia Thomas, MS, PhDc, RDN & Rebecca Valdez, RD
The CPE activity application for Redefining Food is Medicine through Food Access, Justice, and Sovereignty is pending CDR review and approval for 1.25 CPEUs.
