Join CMDA on Wednesday, April 25th as Dr. Maureen Leonard presents a fascination discussion on celiac disease and gluten sensitivity. Location: Charles River Medical Associates, 246 Maple St, Marlboro, MA. Time: 6:00-7:30 pm
Maureen Leonard, MD, MMSc is Clinical Director, Center for Celiac Research and Treatment, an Instructor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, and Associate Investigator, Nutrition Obesity Research Center, Harvard Medical School. She sees adult and pediatric patients at the Center for Celiac Research and Treatment. The presentation will review the pathophysiology of celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, discuss an approach to the gluten free diet, and introduce novel therapeutics under investigation to treat celiac disease. It will also examine how the intestinal microbiome develops, early environmental factors that may alter the development of the intestinal microbiome, and how the intestinal microbiome may be used as a target to prevent celiac disease
