What Science Tells Us about Healthy Brains, Food and Lifestyles

Speaker:
Nancy B. Emerson Lombardo, PhD, Adjunct Research Assistant Professor of Neurology, Boston University School of Medicine, Alzheimer’s Disease Center; President, Brain Health and Wellness Center

Objectives:
1. Identify which types of foods and other lifestyles are most helpful to "saving our brains"
2. Identify key foods that are harmful to brain, whether only in excess or in any amounts
3. Explain why Excess Sugar is toxic to the brain
4. Identify related research evidence
5. Identify evidence-based goals for brain healthy nutrition and where to start

Speaker Biography:
Nancy Emerson Lombardo, PhD has worked for 4 decades in services for older adults. A passionate advocate for brain health and for people dealing with Alzheimer’s and other brain diseases, Dr. Emerson Lombardo co-founded the Alzheimer’s Association and Alzheimer’s Disease International in the 1980s. She is an internationally recognized thought leader in interventions for diverse populations as well as those featuring brain healthy lifestyles. Dr. Emerson Lombardo is Adjunct Research Assistant Professor of Neurology at Boston University School of Medicine, and BU Alzheimer’s Disease Center. She is Founder and President of the Brain Health and Wellness Center which promotes over 11 evidence-based brain healthy lifestyles. Dr. Emerson Lombardo integrated results of hundreds of scientific studies into a brain healthy nutritional program designed to promote cognitive and emotional brain health for people at every age. Dr. Emerson Lombardo offers consultation and coaching to individuals and organizations, including guidance on customizing and implementing brain healthy nutrition programs.
