Details:

Speaker: Deanna Harlow, MS, RD, CD (she/hers)

Speaker Bio:

Deanna is an “all foods fit”, HAES-aligned dietitian working primarily with patients with eating disorders at Walden Behavioral Care in Guilford, CT. She has a passion for educating patients, parents, and professionals alike about the history of eating disorders, current treatment methods, coping skills, the impact trauma has on ED's, as well as the effects of the recent COVID-19 pandemic.

She is an active member of the community, promoting weight neutral approaches to health care. Deanna is currently working with NEDA on their annual walk in Hartford, CT to help raise money for continued eating disorder research and legislative changes for access to care.

Program Objectives:

  • Better understand the basics of ED’s (how they develop, nutrition-related concerns, typical treatments, intuitive eating, weight restoration vs weight neutrality, etc)

  • Understand how trauma impacts our sessions as RD’s

  • Learn about the research that has come out around the pandemic and its effects on ED cases, mental health awareness, the effect of telehealth on adequate treatment, etc
